In medicine we have many learned words about body symptoms and diseases. We think and speak a lot about them. We have explanations and treatments based on these understandings. We do not consider that our symptoms are not only the objects of our knowledge and judgement. Rather, our symptoms are their own beings with knowledge and judgments about us. They are embodiments of a deeper spirit, a symptom mind, a Process Mind, a truth that has its own language and expressions. Besides analyzing our symptoms, we can listen to them, let them express themselves and speak to us. For this, you must open yourself to the knowledge and experience of the symptoms themselves. You must animate them, bring life to them and allow them to be their own beings with their own language, rationality, and meaning. Then you can enter into a creative and imaginative conversation with them.
- Describe your conscious purpose, momentary direction, challenges. Make a note.
- Choose a body symptom or experience you want to explore.
- Describe it, the area of the body, the organ, the experience.
- Creatively and imaginatively animate the experience until it becomes a being.
- Let the being express itself through poetic language, an image, a gesture, a story.
- Unfold the dream or imagination into a poem, a myth, or a conversation.
- Listen. Make a note.
Heart Whispers:
Murmurs and stumbles.
Listen and tread carefully.
Presence, absence, and space.
Capacity and timelessness.
