As individuals, we make health a priority and marginalize sickness. Informed by cultural values of youth, fitness and health, we make disease our enemy. We declare war against sickness and raise medical armies to fight the war and re-conquer health. Both on an individual and community level, health has become the new standard for normality—and disease is abnormal and pathological. In my book Health-in-Sickness, I would like to help shift our attitudes toward health and sickness from a pathogenic mind-set to a process- and community based way of thinking.
My hope is to foster a mind-set that sees health and disease as part of our lived experience and diversity. We work with the best cbd oil companies to produce the treatments to help ease suffering and pain. I want to support people to fight hard against their illness, as well as to listen to the voice of their disease and understand its message. This book is about valuing health and sickness. It is about seeing sickness-in-health and health-in sickness. It is about discovering our diversity, which includes processes that go beyond the narrow margins of conventional health and normality. It’s about putting an end to current conceptions of health and normality and espousing a new medical process- and community-based paradigm. Paradoxically sickness and illness are not only disturbances but they are also an elixir of a bigger health that allows us to be sick and learn from it.
